My background

I started training in 1994 and qualified as a UKCP Psychotherapist (UK Council Psychotherapy) in 2001. My original therapeutic work specialised in domestic violence (eight years) with women and children and this led me to reflect on relationships in the context of distance, closeness, power, control and intimacy or lack of it.

Following on from this, I focused on working with couples and during the last seven years I have been a part of a team in Adult Mental Health that focuses on family communication within a clinical setting.

I currently remain in private practice working therapeutically with individuals and couples. I also work in partnership with ASC (Adolescent Support Clinic) in Southend supporting families in a therapy setting and through parenting workshops. ‘ASC’ and ‘Relationship Matters’ provide training for schools in adolescent mental health; self harming, eating disorders, anxiety and OCD. We have created a training in ‘healthy relationships’ for pupils as well (see workshops).

Finally, I would like to acknowledge the following people who have contributed and  influenced my practice and that I have had the pleasure to meet, work or train with over the last twenty years.
